ABOUT MY WORK
My name is Anne Pirlot, self-taught paper ripper.
I create colorful collages that are fresh and full of energy. I love how the torn edges and transparent layers of tissue paper let colors mix in surprising ways. Even with a knowledge of color theory,
I never know exactly how the papers will interact until they’re on the page. My collages balance spontaneity with structure, creating compositions that feel both lively and harmonious.
I often throw in splashes of black and use bold patterns like polka dots and stripes to add a sense of rhythm. Many of the dotted patterns are also block printed, adding another organic layer to the compositions. I also like playing with color combinations. Magenta and orange? Yes, please.
For me, creating collages is intuitive and fun, and I don’t intellectualize the process or the results. I want viewers to pause and smile. My hope is that these collages bring a little dopamine hit to whoever sees them.
